A date with good food, every season
In sa Pobla, food takes to the streets more than once a year. Throughout the seasons, the town hosts several gastronomic fairs that highlight local flavours and the work of farmers, chefs and producers. Each one has its own charm and star dish. Here’s a taste of what to expect:
January – Mostra Gastronòmica de l’Anguila
As part of the Sant Antoni festivities, this fair brings back an iconic product of poblera cuisine: eel. Traditional and modernised dishes highlight this freshwater fish so closely tied to s’Albufera and the town’s history.
June – Fira Nocturna de la Patata
When the sun goes down, the town centre fills with aromas and music. Bars and restaurants serve creative tapas where the star is the local potato. Coca (flatbread), omelettes, croquettes and surprising combinations give life to a fair full of flavour and festivity.
November – Fira de l’Arròs Pobler and Menjar Bé a Sa Pobla
In November, rice —deeply linked to sa Pobla’s agricultural past— takes centre stage. Local bars and restaurants offer a wide variety of rice dishes: brothy, creamy, dry, traditional or innovative, all made with arròs pobler as the key ingredient.
The fair includes a full programme of activities for all ages: cultural events, concerts, meetings of xeremiers, lutiers and gegants, as well as local crafts and produce. Animals, vintage vehicles, rides and local businesses round off this essential experience for discovering sa Pobla’s culinary and cultural richness.
