If you’re looking for a place to switch off, breathe slowly and hear nothing but birdsong, take note: s’Albufera Natural Park. Located within the municipality of sa Pobla, it is the largest wetland in the Balearic Islands and one of Mallorca’s most important natural and historical treasures.
With over 40 km of trails, marshes, canals and fields drained in the 19th century, s’Albufera has many stories to tell. It’s not only a protected area due to its biodiversity, but also played a key role in the agricultural and social development of the town. In fact, it was once one of the largest irrigated estates in Europe.
Since 1988 it has been a Natural Park, with a visitor centre and four marked routes suitable for walking or cycling. The terrain is flat, accessible and perfect to enjoy at a relaxed pace.
And if you’re into birdwatching, this is your place. S’Albufera is a true paradise for bird lovers. Over 200 species inhabit this ecosystem, which you can observe from dedicated towers and information points. Bring binoculars, curiosity and a bit of time—nature follows its own rhythm.
